Brechin Photographic Society awarded Big Lottery Fund support
Brechin Photographic Society have had much to cheer this year.
Earlier in the year, the club celebrated its 130th anniversary of existence culminating in a tremendously well received exhibition at Brechin Museum helped immeasurably by the terrific efforts of the ladies at Brechin Townhouse Museum, Wendy and Gill.
However, just this week Brechin members were delighted to learn that a club application to the Big Lottery Fund for £5,025 had been approved.
The welcome funding had been earmarked to purchase new state of the art equipment from which all members of the club will benefit. Images can now be seen with great clarity and in accurate colours which will allow training and demonstrations of photo editing to be done with ease. Club president, Ben Freeman commented this was very much with a view to the future citing the growing popularity of digital presentation versus the printed photograph, which was the medium, used when the club was established in 1888.

Brechin are opening their doors to new members and welcome individuals who are keen to learn and progress their interest in photography. The club is now better placed than ever to offer an exciting and informative syllabus in an ever friendly and welcoming atmosphere. As one of the oldest clubs in the country, it is tremendous to be able to look positively to the future with this new equipment.
Things have come a long way since the club was founded in 1888
The club meets every Tuesday evening at 7:15pm in St Andrews Church Hall, St Andrews St, Brechin, DD9 6JB between September and April. Please visit www.brechinphotographicsociety.co.uk for loads more information and stunning photographs.
