Happy New Year!
Well, 2020 is here - 2020! Sounds like something from a futuristic sci-fi drama, but it really is 2020! I hope everyone had a terrific Christmas and New Year!
Andy Hayes ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b PPSA
Club nights return this Tuesday (7th) with a much anticipated talk from our own Andy Hayes. When Andy was competition secretary before me, we tended to get quite regular updates on his photography, but it has been a couple of years since we have seen his work.
Andy specialises in Aviation photography and Wildlife (which will be the basis of this evening) including work on Scottish Wildcats, Golden Eagles, Tigers in India and Big Cats from Kenya. We will see a mix of digital, A/V and printed media, in what will undoubtedly be an entertaining evening.
Meffan Exhibition
I would also like to remind you all again that we are looking for prints from you for the Meffan exhibition on Tuesday, as per previous news bulletins and emails. This is an important advertisement for the club, and I really do encourage you to get involved.
Annual Image Competition Finale
The following week we welcome Nicola Shepherd LRPS CPAGB EPFIAP from St Andrews to deliver her verdict on the final round of the Annual Image Competition, and also collect your Print of the Year entries.
Light Painting with Ian Cairns
On Sunday the 19th January, Ian Hastie has organised for Ian Cairns to do an evening of light painting and fire spinning for the club. I have done one of these evenings with Ian C through Granite City Camera Club and it was absolutely brilliant - he is skilled in his craft and also very good at explaining what to do to capture the photos. An evening not to be missed. Ian H and myself will provide more information nearer to the time, once a location and time have been confirmed. You will need to have a tripod and a shutter release for your camera for the evening, but apart from that, Ian C will explain everything.
A shot from a previous evening with Ian Cairns in Aberdeen.
Lots to look forward to in the next couple of weeks therefore, and I look forward to welcoming you all back to the club on Tuesday.
