RAW or JPEG? Members' night

I've lost count of the number of times people have asked whether they should shoot in RAW, JPEG, or both. I've also lost count of the number of people who profess to KNOW the right answer.

Maybe it's just me, but I like to try and understand why rather than just be told an answer, so on Tuesday I'll try to explain some of the technical details, give some examples, and hopefully give you some evidence that will allow you to decide what file type you should shoot in. My talk will include an explanation as to why this photo of Bow Fiddle Rock is one of the images I'm most proud of taking...

Jock will also present a 10 in 10 talk of some of his favourite images, and we'll look at the process of import, edit and export from lightroom without over complicating things if we have time.

The club then breaks for 2 weeks for Christmas and New Year, and returns with guest speaker Gordon Rae on the 8th January, which will be one not to miss for sure - a terrific wildlife photographer - but more on that nearer the time.
