Print of the Year! (and other news)

Well, the big one has come around again!! Next Tuesday we welcome Ian McCurrach back to the club to deliver his verdict on our Colour and Mono Print of the Year images.

But first, I hope you all enjoyed Donald Ford last night. Always hugely entertaining, and full of constructive advice, it's always a popular evening, and you'll be delighted to know he has agreed to come back next season for another appraisal night. Next time we'll also get to see some of his images (sadly he brought a DVD with him last night but our wonderful new laptop doesn't have a disk drive!!)

Thank you to those who brought in donations to the auction/raffle. We already have a selection of great items building up, so please keep them coming for our first auction night, aimed at boosting club funds.

So, to next week - those who have heard Ian speak and/or judge before will know he is a terrific person to listen to. Ian was an art teacher, and speaks with massive enthusiasm about both art and photography - given this and the number of images to get through, I'd suggest the evening may overrun the 9pm finish - but it will be worthwhile.

2018 Colour Print of the Year - Rattray Head Dawn by Ben Freeman (my one moment of luck)

It is worth mentioning at this stage that we will shortly begin preparations for the annual exhibition, which will run throughout May in the Townhouse Museum. To save hassle, if you'd like to submit your Print of the Year images for the exhibition, please feel free to leave them with me and I'll keep them safe. Alternatively, we will announce in the coming weeks arrangements for submitting images for the exhibition. Ideally images should be mounted in 16" x 20" mounts, to fit the frames, but 40 x 50cm mounts fit close enough too. There are a handful of smaller frames, but the majority are the larger size.

In addition, those whose images have been selected for the John Senior Trophy (Beryl, Ian Hastie, Hayley), can they pass them to Ben after the evening, as these have to be delivered to Carnoustie the following week.

We look forward to seeing as many as possible there next week, for what will be a very enjoyable evening for sure, and a triumphant one for two photographers!!
