Facebook Challenges Reviewed
Some society members are now contributing to the 60th Facebook Challenge. These started in March 2020 at the beginning of the first lockdown, weekly at first, now fortnightly. The winner of each challenge sets the subject for members to interpret using new or archive images which they upload to an album on our private BPS Facebook pages. At the end of the fortnight the challenge winner is chosen by the last winner and they then set the next topic. This fun competition has given us a chance to be imaginative, try out new techniques and review old images. The comments often raise a smile, we learn from each other and, most of all, don't take the whole thing too seriously.
Charlie, the Facebook moderator, put together two excellent presentations for a members' nights, one before Christmas and the other to start off 2022, when he reviewed all the images submitted and the winners of each challenge. It was a great walk down memory lane and was enjoyed enormously by members who viewed all the images on those two Zoom meetings. The variety, quality and creativity on display was great to see.
As the Facebook challenges continue to give pleasure to contributors and viewers they will go on. It would be lovely if more members had a go, it's scary at first but easy and worthwhile when you get into the swing of it.
