A Unique View of Brechin (and other news)

Well, I hope you are all having a great summer. The weather has certainly been kind to us recently, so I hope you've all been bagging some winning shots!

Thank you again to all those who came along to the outings so far. We had a great turnout at both Fowlsheugh and the Isle of May, and I understand that some also attended the Drumtochty Highland Games - apologies that we couldn't also be there.

The Isle of May was a great success, with I believe 15 members coming along (plus Charlie who went the week before due to other commitments, but returned with some great images). The weather was fantastic, and I think everyone came home with great photos. We'll put a slideshow together and have a debrief at a forthcoming members' night - so it'll be a puffin extravaganza!

Our next outing is an evening walk around Brechin on the 14th August.

We will meet at 6:30pm in the car park by the St Andrews Church Hall, giving us a little over 2 hours until sunset. The aim of this walk is to try to take photographs that show a Unique View of Brechin. Try to take an image that nobody else will take!! We will then have a 'show and tell' feature on one of the members nights, where members can describe their photographs, why and how they took them, and what makes it unique. A practical exercise in thinking outside the box, but nevertheless intended to be fun and informative, with more experienced photographers on hand to offer help, advice and ideas.

In the meantime, I hope everyone is still thinking about the President's 12 challenge, although I've had precious few images submitted to date. Remember that this year we will present it in two halves, so the first six months will be shown on the 23rd October. As with last year, I'm delighted if you want to give me these in one submission, but please give me a few days to put it together!

Here's a reminder of the first six topics...

April - Circles

May - How High is Up

June - Golden Hour

July - Mirror Image/Reflection

August - Self-Portrait

September - The Camera Doesn't Lie

It won't be long until the opening club night of the new season. Issue 2 of the club magazine has been completed and is back from the printers, and will be distributed to members when we return. We've got an exciting programme ahead for 2018/19, with some great guests and ideas.

Really looking forward to catching up with as many as possible on the 14th August, and thereafter at the start of the new season.

Happy snapping!

Ben
